Charcoal: What Does It Do?

Activated Charcoal Powder's popularity has sky-rocketed since 2017 when it first started appearing on mass in the beauty industry, but do we really know what it does and how to best use it?

We'll be discussing this in line with it being a key ingredient in the release of our newest products, the Oil Defence Range!

What does Activated mean?

"Charcoal that has been heated or otherwise treated to increase its adsorptive power."

What does it do?

The incredible absorbency and porous nature of the ingredient means it does an amazing job of binding to other ingredients to remove everything from impurities to bacteria.

What can I use it for?

It can be used across different areas of your lifestyle for different purposes. The main three are facial cleansing, teeth whitening and body detoxing.

Facial Cleansing with Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal is an amazing ingredient in skincare and is slowly being harnessed throughout the beauty industry in various forms from masks, to peels, to face washes. The main reason for this trend at the moment is due to its absorption and detoxifying properties that are due to its highly porous structure. It can absorb micro-particles e.g. dirt, dust, pollution, toxins, impurities & bacteria on your skins surface to easily remove them.

We have recently released a new set of products, the NEW Oil Defence Range, which have Activated Charcoal as one of the key ingredients.

The main use of this ingredient in both of our new cleansers is to remove dead skin, impurities, dirt, bacteria and oil from the skins surface. Both need to be simply mixed with warm water and then applied to the skin in small circles, which will help to pull all the dirt from pores and wash away oil from the surface gently and without causing the skin any extra irritation.
